Mastering Theory & Practice

By conducting reasoned debate that considers conflicting ideas, one engages in the pursuit of truth. This is a key tenet of dialectical learning, a discussion-based approach central to the AUP graduate classroom. Theory is important because it provides opportunities for students to navigate multiple perspectives and translate concepts between cultures. Students are treated as rising professionals, sharing their differing viewpoints, experiences and contexts in response to theoretical debates.

Classroom Environment: Discussion in small groups facilitated by mentoring faculty.

Academic Resources: Students craft their own pathways through master’s studies supported by academic, career and experiential resources.
